PROGRAMS

In addition to all the other events, the 676 offers cadets the opportunity to participate in many teams and activities.  Cadets are encouraged to try as many teams as they like. Current information and updates on training dates for all the 676 teams can be found on each team page and in the Corps Calendar.

Marksmanship Team

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Cost: None
  • Duration: Sept – April

Tryouts for this team are in the fall of each year. Competition rules require that there be representation on the team from junior (14 and under) and senior cadets. There are up to 3 marksmanship teams with 5 members per team plus 2 alternates at the 676. Cadets selected for the marksmanship team compete at shooting competitions throughout the year.

The 676 have produced some of the best marksmanship cadets in all of Canada.  In 2019, the 676 Lorne Scot Corp was able to fill 3 out of 18 spots, and send our cadets to the prestigious NTR Summer Training Camp in England.

Orienteering Team

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Cost: None
  • OIC: Capt Bruce
  • Duration: Sept – Nov

The orienteering is the sport of navigating over unfamiliar terrain with map and compass with the goal of completing the course in the shortest time.  The 676 Orienteering team has won medals in the last five years.  This team will be selected in September and will compete at the zone and regional levels.

Biathlon Team

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Cost: None
  • OIC: Lt Holmes
  • Duration: Oct – End of Season

This team will be selected in September and will begin a training program that includes shooting practice with the marksmanship team.  Training will also include running and cross country ski sessions during the winter.

Drill Team

  • Prerequisite: None
  • Cost: None
  • Duration: TBD

This team will be selected in the Fall. Cadets with an interest in advanced precision military drill and rifle drill will find this team challenging and rewarding.  This is one of the few teams that require cadets to rely on their team-mates for success instead of just themselves.  It is a great team accomplishment to perform in unison, as all members get the same reward.  The Drill Team will compete in area drill competitions held in the Spring.
