Teams & groups

In addition to all the other events, the 676 offers cadets the opportunity to participate in many teams and activities.  Cadets are encouraged to try as many teams as they like. Current information and updates on training dates for all the 676 teams can be found on each team page and in the Corps Calendar.

Orienteering Team

Prerequisite: None

Cost: None

Tryouts: Tuesday September 12,19,26

OIC: Capt. Bruce

Duration: Sept - Nov

The orienteering is the sport of navigating over unfamiliar terrain with map and compass with the goal of completing the course in the shortest time.  The 676 Orienteering team has won medals in the last five years.  This team will be selected in September and will compete at the zone and regional levels.   

Marksmanship Team

Prerequisite: None

Cost: None

Tryouts: Friday Oct 6,13,20

OIC: Capt Lima

Duration: Sept - April


Tryouts for this team are in the fall of each year. Competition rules require that there be representation on the team from junior (14 and under) and senior cadets. There are up to 3 marksmanship teams with 5 members per team plus 2 alternates at the 676. Cadets selected for the marksmanship team compete at shooting competitions throughout the year.

Biathlon Team

Prerequisite: None

Cost: None

Tryouts: Friday Oct 13,20,27

Duration: Oct - April

This team will be selected in September and will begin a training program that includes shooting practice with the marksmanship team.  Training will also include running and cross country ski sessions during the winter.

Lorne Scots Pipes & Drums Band  

Prerequisite: An interest in Music

Eligibility: Red Star Cadets and above (Green Star Cadets with music training may apply)

This is open to parents as well

Cost: None

Signup: Any Tuesday

Duration: All year including the summer months

676 Cadets now have the incredible opportunity to participate in the Lorne Scots Pipes and Drums Band. This internationally recognized military band will provide Cadets with instruction on playing bag pipes or tenor/bass/snare drums. Instruments, instruction and band uniforms are provided at no cost; .  Cadets will be integrated into the band, when they reach the required level of proficiency.  Parents with an interest in music are also welcome to join.  Practice is Tuesday nights at the Armoury.  See the Commanding Officer for more information

Para Training and Physical Fitness Training

Prerequisite: An interest in high intensity physical training and/or a desire to apply for the Canadian Forces Parachute Course

Eligibility: Open to all Cadets

Cost: None

Signup: Any Tuesday

Duration: Sept June

Cadets interested in applying for the Canadian Forces Parachute course and those interested in improving their level of physical fitness are invited to join the Para Training club.  This group meets every Tuesday night and works to improve overall physical fitness with an emphasis in developing the base line fitness required to be selected for the Canadian Forces Basic Parachute course offered each summer.
